Haunted House Project

3D Modeling

The Haunted House Project was a good opportunity to create as part of a big team of people, with focus on organization, communication, making optimized assets for quick load time and the ability to follow a single art direction, which was decided to be a low-poly, hand-painted style.

During the creation of the 3D model based on my concept art I had various challenges making the vines as I wanted to make it possible to move them to fit around all or our other props. I ended scraping that Idea but I did learn about a lot of tools that gave me the effect I was looking for. If we had a wider timeframe to complete the project I would have researched this options further. However, I had to find a solution, so I created static presets of vines with various shapes and bends to allow the assembly of longer vines by combining them together.
In terms of load time optimization I kept all my shapes to a very basic, low-poly level to ensure that the models would stay light. I knew that later on I could give the illusion of roundness through my texturing.
